More than 50 species of large mammals have been recorded in the Taita Hills Nature Reserve.
The protected area extends across the southern Tsavo West National Park and is an important distribution area between Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park.
The reserve is generally mountainous and offers fantastic views of Kilimanjaro, Pare, Uluguru and of course the Taita Hills. A seasonal river divides the reserve into valleys and lowlands.
